A citizens' project to save local heritage
The "Plus Grand Musée de France" is a collection of exceptional works of art scattered in towns and villages throughout France, owned by local authorities and accessible free of charge to all those willing to travel to discover them.
These works of art (paintings, sculptures, tapestries, fabrics, silverware...) are worthy of our interest, some even of the world's greatest museums. And yet, many of them are little-known and, for want of care, are in danger of disappearing.
Initially launched with students, the project now also involves employees of major companies, secondary school pupils and all art lovers who want to take part.
Since its creation in 2013, 280 works of art have been restored throughout France, for a total of 1.9 million euros raised and thanks to the involvement of 70,000 people. After obtaining the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the support of the Association des Maires de France and the French National Commission for UNESCO, the operation received the high patronage of the President of the Republic.

The student campaign
Every year, dozens of students adopt a work of art and raise funds to support its restoration. Launched with the École du Louvre in 2013, the campaign now includes a dozen partner schools and universities.

The corporate campaign
Companies take part in the campaign by directly involving their employees, who are called upon to identify endangered works of art. The company then finances the restoration. For them, it's a way of fulfilling a mission of general cultural interest.

The high-school campaign
Since 2018, Sauvegarde de l'Art Français has been inviting high school students to take part in its Plus Grand Musée de France campaign. The aim is both simple and multifaceted: to get young people to know and love the heritage that surrounds them, and to make them responsible for it.

Saving masterpieces all around us
