The objects we use and spaces we inhabit are reflected in the myriad colors and themes that are made possible through new design technology. Design is a medium that connects people to the world around them, bonds technology to its creators and ties the present to potential futures.

The Humanity by New Technology exhibition aims to present the idea of humanity based on the combination of technology and design. This exhibition discovers how use of technology and design can lead to practice humanity by forecasting the possible methods of renovating used spaces through design and converging eco-friendly materials with design – with an aim of providing more pleasant surroundings for human beings. One of the highlighted works is interior design speaker. As the era of the single-person households is on the rise, this speaker is intended to enrich life of people living in the limited spaces.

Design is Life - Peace in Chaos by BFMIN STUDIOGwangju Design Biennale

The stories of the encounters between people and people, and the interesting thoughts involved in them. What are the designs and thoughts of things that will make our time with nature? BFMIN is a graphic artist based on stree art. This work is based on the products and services of companies participating in the 2019 Gwangju Design Biennale, and described how their designs and technologies play a role in developing human lifestyles and realizing humanity.

Chaehwachil is a traditional Korean craft technique that involves lacquering with natural pigments to produce various colors and patterns. Since the handicraft techniques of a master artisan are used throughout the entire process of the Chaehwachil production, it usually takes a long time to complete, but this natural procedure helps creating a long - lasting and beautiful work.

The Ilkwang Lightings have participated a lot of spce renewal project using the natural colors of glow lamp. The Ilkwang Lightings is also actively involved in green environmental projects. The incandescent light bulb, which was easily available at an affordable price, lighted our daily lives up close.To show the life of light bulb, the second fire invented by humankind, we combinated both noisy and busy factory machine that creates a light bulb with repetitive rotational and linear movements and a calm and beautiful moment made with lighting that will be put into our daily life.

The 21st century is an age of emotion. Design is often cited to address the importance of emotion.A cognitive psychologist Donald A. Norman said 'Emotions are changing the way we solve problems and the research paradigm changed from cognition to emotion.' Zone ‘RICH’ displayed works that express human emotion to use design and technology. In a sense, the main tool for expressing human emotion is technology. In this zone, You can see how we use technology to connect with others.

Room Fantazia: Inner Peace Room Fantazia: Inner Peace by Studio LUCK!DSGwangju Design Biennale

Room Fantizia is a project by Studio LUCKIDS that reinterprets the Room of an individual's life cycle with experimental and unconstrained ideas from designers and artists in various fields. The last episode of Room Fantasia; Inner Peace, is an artwork metaphor by the orchestra, which focused on the idea of nonpersistent spaces where someone could face personal essence, and that personal space could escape the realm and coexist with others. There are several cubes that represent someone's private sphere.

In each private sphere, two conductors and orchestra players express their world playing a piano, a violin, a viola and a cello. Their private sphere goes beyond time and space to become a shared space. Breaking the existing rule that one can achieve coexistence and harmony only by staying together in one space. Focusing on someone’s inner side and drawing up conversation about life, the one can be met a wider world with a more open mind and met harmony with a wider variety of people. It's an artwork with an orchestra as a metaphor.

In the design of furniture and accessories, the development of sophisticated hand and processing techniques allows for shapes and structures that were impossible in the past. Rather than revealing technology, it has authentic value to make sure that the user doesn't even know that the technology is used.

'People who think and do different change the world.' After Steve Jobs has passed away, when we think of 'Apple', we still reminiscing him because we are living in this world where he had changed. This exhibition shows what Steve Jobs wanted to deliver to consumers through new technologies and innovative thinking.

Pingpong RobotGwangju Design Biennale

Pingpong Robot can easily assemble and quickly implement. For instance, all different types of Pingpong Robot models constructed by a single module 'Pingpong Cube'. While Robo Risen researched Pinpong Robot, the company try to analyze the movements of Human body and the animal. Following the research, Pingpong Robot assembled with various types of links that connect cubes to other cubes which mimics the human body & animal. Robo Risen created cubes and links to control hundreds of robot models as a single device. The artist and designer intentionally combine the black and yellow color to emphasize the dynamism and diversity of Pingpong's brand design.

Office Office by STAGE9Gwangju Design Biennale

'Office' represents coworking lifestyle that connects between human. As industrial revolution evolve, technologies develop, and millennials join the world, workspace with efficiency and humanism became the novel trend making coworking space a new normal. Contrary to walled - off cube style traditional office, workspace now encourage workers to interact with each others providing dynamic and flexible areas within office.
