Taman Negara National Park covers 4343.51 km2 across the States of Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu, Malaysia with Gunung Tahan as the highest peak at 2,187 metres above sea level.

One of the world’s oldest rainforests, the Taman Negara National Park boasts of the most extensive protected area of pristine lowland, evergreen  rainforest in Malaysia. This national park is also the most important centre of endemicity in Malay Peninsula.

Unique Flora

Wild durian; Pucukpaku, the edible fern; bird’s nest fern; staghorn fern; Aquilaria sp.; rattans and bamboos. Tualang (Koompassia excelsa), the tallest tree in Southeast Asia, dipterocarps, and other species of tall, woody trees can be  found in the Park.

Unique Fauna

Seladang; elephant; Malayan tapir; leopard; tiger; sun bear; white-handed gibbon; langur; great argus pheasant; Probarbus jullieni and Rasbora dusonensis, which are rare species of fish.

Taman Negara National Park is also the home of Orang Asli, a tribe of hunter-gatherers in Malaysia. Visitors can visit their settlement to observe the culture and traditions of one of the oldest indigenous communities in the country.
