Artistic process

Odun’s art draws from human connection and storytelling. She aims to capture unspoken meanings from sessions with her late father, reinterpreting these stories and navigating the familiar void using her memories and current understanding.

Multiverse memories

Odun’s pencil and charcoal drawings link her insights to cherished memories. Her art creates multiverses by enriching emptiness in memory or knowledge. These bridges form through various interpretations of the same word, providing a creative lens for viewing information.

By crafting universes and creating marks, Odun draws upon her imagination as a wellspring of knowledge to fill existing voids. Everything is present in her newly imagined worlds, and she encourages her audience to embrace this feeling.

Dimension

I approach knowing as the engagement of space; as a place for reflection, reflectivity, reorientation, navigation. It is the concept of what space is in itself. You can call space void but then, there are no voids; there is something in all space.- Odun Orimolade

Multiverse

Sometimes you pause and you take a closer look and there is a whole world in there. -Odun Orimolade

Multiverse is a group of drawings that reflect Odun's reaction to books she has read, her imaginations, or the everyday occurrences we often give no thought to.

There's something I tell my students: that our imagination is drawn from memory. Two things, we remember things even things that we didn’t know we took in, but the moment that we are conscious we absorb information. And our sub-conscious contributes to it. - Odun Orimolade

“The minute you can’t term (something) you think of another interpretation and then you add to it. Because knowledge can be memory and memory can work as knowledge”
